Cybersecurity Skills Journal: Practice and Research
Cybersecurity Skills Journal: Practice and Research (CSJ) is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal that seeks to advance knowledge and practice in all areas of the cybersecurity profession by publishing high-quality, evidence-based research of effective practices as well as theoretical articles and select case studies. Skill areas of interest include, but are not limited to: open source intelligence gathering, scanning, enumeration, exploitation, vulnerability assessment and management, forensics, incident handling and response, secure software development, secure software engineering, identity and access management, threat intel, threat hunting, intelligent and machine learning techniques, risk management, etc. All submissions must have relevance for cybersecurity professional capability development and take as a perspective one or more levels of analysis: individual, team, organization, or industry.
The journal is international in scope and is uniquely positioned to reach both academic and practitioner audiences. Articles in the following areas are welcomed:

theoretical/conceptual research with implications for cybersecurity capabilities

original empirical research on effective practices

in-depth, systematic reviews of the research and literature in specific areas of evidence-based practice

case studies or other qualitative analyses demonstrating the application of innovative tactics, techniques and protocols which highlight critical or often overlooked skill requirements for cybersecurity professionals

research on cybersecurity professional practice and performance requirements
-
unique challenges encountered by cybersecurity professionals in applying their knowledge, skill and abilities
-
instructional designs or materials, assessments, or practice/challenge lab designs that may raise capability maturity in students and professionals
Cybersecurity Skills Journal: Practice and Research is published by the National CyberWatch Center. National CyberWatch authors benefit from exceptional support, knowledge, and resources and enjoy national exposure. Upon publication, CSJ articles are distributed widely to individuals and organizations through the National CyberWatch Center Digital Press and affiliated publishing organizations. Special issues coincide with national events, such as 3CS, with best papers on skill development eligible for awards through the Innovations in Cybersecurity Education program. Through print and electronic access, articles published in CSJ are available to a global audience of over 300 institutions and 35,000 potential readers.

Submitted manuscripts must be written in the style outlined in the Cyber Skills Journal Author Guidelines, must not have been previously published, and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
